     The Baxter Society, 2024-2025 Schedule

Unless otherwise noted, you may attend either in person at room 423-424 Glickman Library, U. of Southern Maine, Portland, or on Zoom, at 6:00 pm.

Sept 18: Joint meeting with the Kate Cheney Chappell Center for the Book Arts. Stephanie Stigliano will speak on her work.

Oct 9: Anne Bromer will speak on “Miniature Books Deserve More Respect.”

Nov 13: Reid Byers will speak on his Grolier Club exhibition “Imaginary Books.”

Dec 11: Annual Holiday Party and Business Meeting

Jan 8: Annual Show-and-Tell (Zoom only.)

Feb 5: [NB - first Wednesday] Bill Lippincott will speak on “A Bangor publisher’s connection to Houghton Mifflin: George Godfrey and his library.” At Glickman Library and online via Zoom.

Mar 12: David Dilaura will speak on “A Startling Discovery: Meeting Isaac Newton in My Own Library.” (Zoom only.)

Apr 9: Karolyne Garner will speak on her extensive collection and knowledge of etiquette books. (Zoom only.)

May 7: [NB - first Wednesday] Scott Vile will speak on thirty years of operating the Ascensius Press. The talk will be held at Glickman Library Room 423-423, with a visit afterwards to the exhibit in the 7th floor Great Reading Room. (In person only.)
